Neurology
Helping pets with conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nerves
A consultation with the VSA internal medicine team can complement the care from your family veterinarian as well as provide ongoing support and treatment from any of our hospitals located in Syliva Park, Auckland West, or Christchurch.
We also offer phone or zoom consults to veterinarians all over New Zealand.
What does a veterinary neurologist do?
A veterinary neurologist investigates conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Patients may present with any of these signs:
• Weakness and incoordination
• Spinal Pain
• Seizures
• Tremors and twitching
• Changes in behaviour or awareness
Dr Sam Khan leads our multi-disciplinary Neurology Service which integrates closely with our Specialist Surgery and Internal Medicine teams. Neurological conditions can be complex, and a detailed assessment helps guide the next steps in care.
