Our purpose built, multi department Sylvia Park hospital has been open since April 2016. Having a hospital based in Mt Wellington means that it is easy for people from South and East Auckland as well as further afield to be able to utilise our services.

Our specialist animal hospital in Sylvia Park is supported by a team of passionate veterinary professionals. Right from when a client walks in the door, they are welcomed by our incredible reception team through to our specialists, veterinary nurses, vets and support staff  who enable us to provide exceptional care to our patients. Our services at Sylvia Park include; surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and a 24 hour emergency service.

Our Sylvia Park team is lead by Dr Richard Jerram, Director of VSA and Registered Specialist in Small Animal Surgery. 

Our specialist surgeons provide treatment across a number of disciplines including, but not limited to:

Diagnostic Imaging

Our Sylvia Park hospital has in-house digital radiography, 64-slice CT, ultrasound and fluroscopy. We also have access to off-site MRI, PET-CT and radiation therapy. Having access to all of these modalities means that our clinicians are able to target our diagnostic imaging to the specific needs of our patients.

Internal Medicine

VSA is able to offer a dedicated specialist Internal Medicine service from our Sylvia Park location.
The first service of its type in the southern and eastern parts of Auckland, we are providing specialist medicine services in the following areas:

- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Endocrinology
- Gastroenterology
- Nephrology
- Neurology
- VSA Cancer Care

Our Internal Medicine team can provide a personalised and detailed diagnostic and treatment plan for a wide range of medical conditions for you and your pet.



Anaesthesia

Our anaesthesia team is lead by Dr Joana Chagas, who is the only registered specialist in veterinary anaesthesia and pain management working in private practice in New Zealand.

VSA Sylvia Park is equipped with state-of-the-art anaesthesia machines and monitoring equipment. We can provide advanced care such as mechanical ventilation, invasive blood pressure monitoring and multimodal analgesia - analgesic infusions or local-regional anaesthesia techniques.

Physiotherapy

We offer a full veterinary physiotherapy service at VSA Sylvia Park for patients that need extra help with mobility, recovery from injury, rehabilitation or arthritis.

Our veterinary qualified physiotherapists are able to tailor a rehab plan for individual patient needs.

Hydrotherapy

Our qualified hydrotherapists at Sylvia Park utilise our HydroPhysio® underwater treadmill (UWT) to promote optimal biomechanics and normalise walking patterns in our patients.

Hydrotherapy allows weight-bearing exercises in a safe and controlled environment to optimise muscle building, provide strength and improve the condition of the joints and soft tissue.

Animal Emergency

Our Animal Emergency at VSA team at VSA Sylvia Park are committed emergency vets and nurses who are passionate about patient care. Our team are available 24/7 to take emergency consults, walk-ins and also oversee the hospital care of our referral patients.
