Dr Tamara Elsmore

Position: Small Animal Internal Medicine Clinician (Board Examination Completed)

Dr Tamara Elsmore graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2017. Following graduation, she completed an internship at Massey University before spending 18 months in small animal general practice. Seeking to further develop her clinical skills, Tamara then undertook a second internship in Sydney before returning to New Zealand, where she gained valuable experience in a referral emergency and critical care setting.

Tamara subsequently joined Veterinary Specialists Aotearoa (VSA) to pursue advanced training in internal medicine through a residency program. In June 2026, Tamara successfully passed her Fellowship examinations in Small Animal Internal Medicine through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.

Tamara has a special interest in complex medical cases and enjoys the collaborative approach required to provide exceptional patient care. She values working closely with pet owners and referring veterinarians to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.

Outside of work, Tamara shares her home with three cats and her partner, who is a large animal veterinarian. In her spare time, she enjoys riding motorcycles and appreciating classic American cars.
