VSA Internal Medicine Residency Programme

We are please to announce a 3-year residency programme in small animal internal medicine. This programme will follow the guidelines of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and the candidate will become eligible for examination for Fellowship of the College. 

The candidate must be a Member of the College prior to sitting the Fellowship exams and for candidates who have not already achieved this, it can be completed during the residency programme. Candidates are expected to have previously completed a recognised rotating internship in small animal veterinary medicine or have completed an equivalent period in clinical practice. 

The position will be 36 months rotating through the specialist internal medicine services at the VSA hospitals in Mt Albert and Sylvia Park, Auckland and our VSA hospital in Christchurch. 

The resident will be expected to fully participate in case management, procedures, and assist with after hours care of cases in the hospitals. Attendance at regular journal club, case rounds and local seminars is expected.  

In order the fulfil ANZCVS credential requirements for Fellowship, among other things, the residents will be required to complete two original publications and present at scientific conference.
