Emergency Services Status Update
New Zealand is experiencing an unprecedented staff shortage of Vets and Nurses. This means that our emergency and out of hours services are more important than ever, but we also face the same staffing challenges. If you need emergency, out of hours care, please be aware of the following:
Please be patient
Your wait to see a vet may be longer that you expect. We triage all patients to ensure the most urgent and critical cases are seen with priority just as in a human emergency department.
Bring your charger, water and snacks.
Limited Hospital Beds
Our emergency team may not be able to admit every animal that needs care. We have a limit of emergency hospital beds to ensure that we can give the proper and high standards of care to those patients in our hospital.
This might mean that we have to send you to a different emergency centre. If you can, please call ahead to save you any unnecessary travel
Treat us with kindness
Our animal emergency team work hard, at all hours to care for animals in need.
We understand that it can be hard to control emotions at times of need, but know that we are always doing the best we can for your animals.
Please do not shout and swear at us. This treatment will not be tolerated.
Always be kind.
EMERGENCY VET CARE FOR YOUR PET
Our team of committed veterinarians and veterinary nurses are passionate about patient care and, with access to a comprehensive diagnostic testing suite, we are able to manage the most critical and dynamic of patients effectively.
Our A&E team are open to take care of referrals from general practices as well as emergency consultations from the general public. We are always open when your general practice is not, including all public holidays. Hospitalised patients from the surgical and medical services also receive the best after hours care from the A&E team, who take responsibility for overnight observation and treatment according to your specialist’s plan.
