Emergency Small Animal Veterinarian

Are you passionate about providing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options as well as excellent nursing care to your patients? Are you seeking the next step in advancing your knowledge and experience?  Come and join our dynamic and dedicated emergency team at Veterinary Specialists Auckland!

VS A&E is an after hours emergency practice, based in a large specialist hospital in Sylvia Park, central/east Auckland. We provide services to a wide spectrum of clients, from the more affluent pet owners in the central and eastern suburbs through to the less affluent but still much-loved pets of the southern areas. We have everything you will need to offer an excellent standard of veterinary care, including an awesome nursing team, multi parameter patient monitors, in-house laboratory, digital radiography, and support/consultation from your senior veterinary and management teams.

For you, we can offer:

  • a varied and interesting case load from a diverse range of clients, where no two days are the same;

  • a commitment to your training and ongoing development, with access to our external CE portal and regular in-house training sessions;

  • professional and personal support to become the best vet you can be, with proactive collegial communication and access to a great network of specialist skills;

  • work-life balance is really important to us, so we work hard to give you a regular, predictable roster with decent amounts of time off;

  • a generous hourly wage, depending on experience; this is provided on request.

From you, we are looking for:

  • a qualified veterinarian with at least 2 years of clinical experience; you do not need emergency experience, but you must have a strong background as a team player and a desire to build your skills in the area of emergency work.

  • You will need to be a great communicator, with a track record of staying calm when all around you is not. You will be providing real time reporting on treatment progress to owners and where needed, the general practice vets who are also managing your patients.

  • You must be comfortable as sole charge in the clinic with the support of the management team.

If you are looking for the opportunity to step your career up to the next level in a clinic with a fun and supportive culture, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that you must be able to work legally in New Zealand to apply for this position. We are happy to assist with work visas for the right applicant, and relocation assistance is available.
