SURGICAL RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
VETERINARY SPECIALISTS AUCKLAND is pleased to announce a 3-year residency programme in small animal surgery.
This programme will follow the guidelines of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and successful completion of the programme will allow the resident to sit the examinations to become a Diplomate of ECVS. Candidates are expected to have previously completed a recognised rotating internship in small animal veterinary medicine.
We invite applications for this position beginning 05 July 2021.
The position will be 36 months rotating through the specialist surgical services at the VSA hospitals in Mt Albert & Sylvia Park, Auckland and the VSC hospital in Christchurch. The resident will be expected to fully participate in case management, perioperative surgical care, and assist with after hours care of cases in the hospitals. Attendance at regular journal club, case rounds and local seminars is anticipated. In order to fulfil ECVS credential requirements, among other things, the resident will be required to design, prepare, complete and present a research project for publication in a peer-reviewed veterinary journal. The resident will also be required to present a series of current veterinary topics at national and international conferences.
