Emergency Small Animal Veterinarian – Short term Locum position

Do you thrive on the excitement of an interesting caseload, where you just don’t know what is coming in the door next? Or, are you enjoying your current position but seeking a “freshen up” -  the next step in advancing your knowledge and experience? Are you passionate about providing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options as well as excellent nursing care to your patients?

Then read on.

With us, you will be providing emergency services from a large specialist hospital in Sylvia Park, central/east Auckland. You will see a wide spectrum of clients, and you’ll have everything you will need to offer an excellent standard of veterinary care – like-minded colleagues, an awesome nursing team, lots of toys, and support/consultation from your senior veterinary and management teams.

We are looking for:

  • A qualified companion animal veterinarian with at least 2 years of clinical experience; you do not need emergency experience, and you’ll have support. You must also have a strong background as a team player

  • You will need to be a great communicator, with a track record of staying calm when all around you is not. You will be providing real-time reporting on treatment progress to owners and where needed, the general practice vets who are also managing your patients.

  • You must be comfortable as sole charge in the clinic with the support of the management team.

You’ll get 4-6 weeks locum work in the busiest city in New Zealand, together with the opportunity to step your career up a notch with experience during the day in a specialist clinic with plenty of support and a fun and supportive culture.  Opportunities like this don’t come up every day, so take the opportunity to improve your veterinary skills, get some CE points and put what you’ve learned into practice after hours. Travel and accommodation assistance may be available for the right locum - just ask!

Locum dates are: Sept 24 - Nov 11th (we are open to discussing shorter terms within these dates).

You must be able to work legally as a veterinarian in New Zealand to apply for this position.
